Therapy for Teen Boys in Olathe, KS
For Parents
Your son's struggle isn't a reflection of your parenting.
You can love him well and still feel locked out. Many teen boys feel unnoticed by peers, teachers, and mentors, even in a home where they're loved, and they carry an inner critic louder than any encouragement around them. I work as a steady partner for parents, with the level of involvement that fits your family.

Signs it may be time
Pulling away from family and friends, or spending most of his time in his room or on screens
Irritable, shut down, or hard on himself ("I'm a failure")
Falling grades, motivation, or interest in things he used to enjoy
Porn, gaming, or substance use you've found or suspect
A big change: a move, a loss, a breakup, a hard friendship, or the step toward college or work
Questions about faith, identity, or who he's becoming
How I work with your son
I'm direct and I don't lecture. Young men can tell when they're being managed, so I treat your son with respect and help him see his own value. I draw on proven approaches (ACT, AEDP, attachment-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed care) and offer faith-integrated therapy, shaped around your family's values and pace.
How I partner with you
In the first session, I'll ask about your goals and how you'd like to be involved. Some parents join part of a session from time to time; others prefer updates only when your son agrees. What he shares stays private, with the usual safety exceptions, and we set clear expectations together from day one.
"What if he doesn't want to come?"
That's common. He doesn't have to be thrilled. Many young men open up when they're treated with respect and given a say. We can talk through how to bring it up on the free consult call.
