I'm Max Thooft, a licensed professional counselor in Olathe, Kansas. For 15 years I've walked with teen and young adult men who feel stuck, unseen, or unsure who they're becoming. My style is direct and collaborative, and my faith is the foundation I work from.
What I believe
Young men hear a lot of outside voices telling them who to be. My passion is helping them cut through that noise, see that they're fundamentally good and a gift to others, know their value, and stand tall in their own skin. An empowered young man is a blessing to himself and everyone around him.

7 years as a college campus missionary and chapter leader
A year of service in India, working with the nonprofit Jeevan Dhara on drug and alcohol rehabilitation and on sports and education programs
5 years of in-home support for children ages 8-15 with special needs
How I work, in plain language
I draw on proven approaches: ACT (building a life around your values), AEDP (working with emotion safely and deeply), attachment-based and person-centered therapy, and trauma-informed care. I offer faith-integrated therapy, shaped around your own values and pace.
Outside the office
I live in the Kansas City area with my wife and our kids. I grew up playing basketball, tennis, and ultimate frisbee and now play pickleball. I like the outdoors, coffee and meals with family and friends, board games, and cooking.
